Al-Jarida reported on 5 September 2013, citing an informed source, that an arrest warrant and a travel ban had been issued against him and former Interior Minister Jawad al-Bolani over the detector deal. On 7 September 2013 Jawad al-Shuhaili, a member of Parliament's integrity committee, said arrest warrants had been issued that day against both, with the seizure of their property.
