Dhi Qar Governor Yahya al-Nasiri: dismissed by the provincial council after questioning on spending (2019) and summoned by the Integrity Commission (2020)

On 26 June 2019 the Dhi Qar provincial council voted to dismiss Governor Yahya al-Nasiri. Council member Hassan al-Waeli told Alsumaria News that the governor had not attended the questioning, which had been postponed twice, so the council put its 26 questions in his absence and an absolute majority voted that it was not satisfied with the answers. He said the questions concerned financial and administrative corruption and waste of public money, were backed by documents of the Board of Supreme Audit, and would be sent to the Integrity Commission. On 28 June 2020 Al-Aalem Al-Jadeed published two Integrity Commission orders dated 21 June 2020 summoning the former governor under Article 331 of the Penal Code. The orders concerned the creation of the post of head of the governorate's diwan with allowances paid against the law, and payments to local television and radio stations for project advertisements. No court decision is on record as of 19 October 2026.
