Kirkuk internal customs posts (Jimen and Daraman): two groups of six customs employees arrested for bribery and extortion (2026)

During the anti-corruption campaign of 2026, the Federal Integrity Commission, working with the National Security Service, made two sets of arrests at customs posts in Kirkuk province on the routes from the Kurdistan Region. On 24 June 2026 it said six employees of the Jimen customs post had been caught in the act receiving bribes from a customs clearance broker to pass and complete customs transactions, in an ambush carried out under a judicial order. On 14 July 2026 it said six employees of the Daraman customs post, between Kirkuk and Erbil, had been arrested for refusing to complete lawful transactions until the owners paid. Both groups were brought before the investigating judge under Revolutionary Command Council Resolution 160 of 1983, which covers bribery.
