Kirkuk provincial council: four former members sentenced in absentia to 15 years for keeping government cars after the council was suspended (from 2019 to 2022)

Parliament suspended the provincial councils in late 2019. In November 2019 the Kirkuk integrity investigation court summoned 13 members of the Kirkuk provincial council. On 19 June 2021 the Integrity Commission said the court had issued arrest warrants under Article 340 against three council members who had not handed back cars, room furnishings and offices after the council's work ended. On 3 July 2022 the Commission said the Kirkuk criminal court (second panel) had sentenced four former members in absentia to 15 years in prison under Article 316 for taking government cars of the governorate office that were in their care, with arrest warrants, a travel ban and the seizure of their property. KirkukNow named them as Parween Mohammed, Irfan Kirkukli, Riyadh Mohammed and Edward Orhan Adisho, members of the Brotherhood list, sentenced on 2 June 2022, and said they had lived in Erbil since October 2017. Irfan Kirkukli called the ruling political and said his own property in Kirkuk had been seized in 2017.
