What the documents say

The Integrity Commission said a criminal court sentenced him and others to seven years (announced 1 December 2015) and a misdemeanour court to one year over the appointment of relatives (announced 22 December 2015); the Ministry of Finance's inspector general said an integrity court sentenced him to seven years over IQD 1.85 billion of advances to the purchasing committee (announced 21 January 2016). The sentences were passed in absentia. After he surrendered on 16 June 2020, the Supreme Judicial Council said his objection had been accepted, that he had been released on bail and that he would be retried. In April 2022 the judiciary said other cases against him were still before the criminal and misdemeanour courts or under investigation. No final verdict is on record as of 19 October 2026.
