Context only: on 21 May 2019 the Federal Integrity Commission asked for a review of the performance of all service and collection companies contracted with the Ministry of Electricity, according to Alsumaria. The statement names no company, so it is not a finding about this licensee.

What became of the project

Licence 248/2018 of 24/12/2018 (energy): collection and maintenance service for the Yarmouk and Qadisiyah districts, Baghdad, stated cost IQD 4,000,000,000 (about USD 3.36 million at the register's rate of 1,190 dinars to the dollar, our arithmetic). Completion recorded as 1. The company is reported as the operating supplier in both districts. Press reports of service problems: Al-Mada (21 Jan 2022) reported residents of Yarmouk complaining of repeated cuts despite privatisation and said the company stayed silent. 964 reported a sudden failure of supply in Qadisiyah and Yarmouk on 1 June 2023, scheduled cuts in Yarmouk alternating one hour on and one hour off on 6 August 2023, reduced supply hours on 26 May 2024 after bridge works damaged the main feeder, and a scheduled cut on 18 July 2024. Company spokespeople attributed the cuts to faults at supply stations and to excavation work. These are service reports. None alleges corruption. The latest article opened is dated 18 July 2024.

NIC list: licence 248/2018 only. 964 reported on 17 May 2023 that the company, described as one of the companies contracted with the Ministry of Electricity, had converted electricity supply in the Qadisiyah district from overhead lines to underground cables and street cabinets. A resident quoted by 964 on 1 June 2023 said that one of the conditions of the company's contract is a ban on installing generators in the area. That is a resident's statement and the contract text was not seen.
