Air Force Club land: former Air Force commander Anwar Hama Amin sentenced and another former commander, Shihab Jahid, summoned (from 2019 to 2022)

Two former Air Force commanders who chaired the Air Force Sports Club's board faced court action over club land. On 13 November 2019 the Integrity Commission said the Karkh integrity investigation court had summoned the chairman of the club's board over violations in a contract between the board and two general contracting and real estate consultancy companies to invest about 50 donums allocated to the club. On 16 August 2021 the Commission said the Karkh Criminal Court had sentenced the former Air Force commander, in his presence, to two years' imprisonment under Article 340 of the Penal Code over that contract, which was to build a residential complex for members of the armed forces on Ministry of Finance land allocated to the club. AFP, quoted by Al Jazeera, named him as Lieutenant General Anwar Hama Amin and said he slipped away from the police after the verdict and was back in custody hours later. On 20 September 2022 the Commission said the Karkh Second Investigation Court had summoned another former Air Force commander and club chairman, named by Shafaq News as Lieutenant General Shihab Jahid, over the 15-year lease of club land in al-Waziriya to several people.
