Ammar Jabr Khalil Abd al-Hamid: former Salah al-Din governor convicted in absentia of illicit enrichment (2026)
On 16 August 2026 Iraq's Federal Integrity Commission announced that the Central Anti-Corruption Felony Court had convicted Ammar Jabr Khalil Abd al-Hamid, a former governor of Salah al-Din, in absentia of illicit enrichment during his governorship. The court sentenced him to seven years in prison, fined him IQD 1,728,074,000 and ordered him to repay an equal amount in illicit gains; it confirmed seizure of assets belonging to him and his wife, placed a provisional seizure on his son's assets, and ordered an arrest warrant, with release barred until the fine and restitution are paid. He is a different individual from Ahmed Abdullah al-Jubouri (Abu Mazin), the Salah al-Din governor removed from office in August 2017 and already covered elsewhere in this encyclopedia.
